Description: Marco is short, with dark hair and dark eyes. He's fairly evidently half-Hispanic. He believes himself to be "cute". There is no evidence in either direction.
History: Marco's Mom Eva died in a boating accident when he was eleven, leaving his father Peter in a nice state of depression that he's still in when we meet Marco at thirteen. Her body was never found, but there was little to no chance she could have survived.
The night we meet Marco, he, his best friend Jake, Jake's cousin Rachel, her best friend Cassie, and a random guy named Tobias were heading home from the mall through an abandoned construction lot. There, they run into an alien who tells them that Earth is under attack and gives them the power to morph. He's then eaten by Visser 3.
Shortly after, Marco discovers that Eva did not in fact die. Actually, she was the host of the Yeerk Visser 1 and is now happily working on invading Earth. For the next two years, the four teenagers, one teenager-in-a-hawk, and alien fight the Yeerks in various situations. In December 1999, Marco's Dad (who's no longer depressed, has a job, and is newly married to Nora) discoveres Z-space. The Yeerks then kill Marco and Peter. Only it was actually robots who were projecting holograms of Marco and Peter. Marco and the rest of the Animorphs then take off and rescue Marco's mom. (Who through out the books died three times. WTF, Marco's mom, WTF?)
After that whole mess, the family is reunited in the Hork-Bajar pasture thingy. The Chee come up with the briliant idea to send Marco to a school in a world where there are no Yeerks: Fandom High.
Powers: Marco can change into any animal who's DNA he's acquired for up to two hours.
